The Open Circle

Where we explore and promote the International Charter for Compassion

Check it out!

Our Mission is to promote a cooperative effort to restore compassionate thinking and compassionate action to the center of religious, moral and political life.  Compassion is the principled determination to put our-selves in the shoes of the other, and lies at the heart of all religious and ethical systems.

The Open Circle was started by members of Canterbury House and the Interfaith Council.  We invite other groups who share our commitment to the Charter for Compassion to be active co-sponsors.

OUR ACTIVITIES ARE OPEN TO EVERYONE:

Thursday Night Dinners & Discussion: 7 PM in the Spiritual Center

Each week we will focus on different aspects of compassion with guests or readings from different religious/philosophical traditions and/or neuro-scientific research.

Mindfulness Meditation: M/W/F from noon until 12:30 PM

Through the ongoing practice of meditation one can develop a deeper sense of compassion for oneself and for all humanity.  In Spiritual Center.

Walking the Labyrinth: 3rd Thursdays in Spiritual Center

Labyrinths date back as many as 4000 years.  They are vehicles for exploring humanity’s quest for something more.  They help us get in touch with the great journey buried in our hearts. Drop by anytime between noon and 10 pm.
